For the first race of the season, despite an overcast start to the day, we had a great gathering of GPYC members and friends at Camp Runoia.
Six boats were positioned to start the course just as the clouds broke open to sunshine and blue sky — but we were forced to call the race due to a complete lack of wind.
We settled in to enjoy a cookout and were fortunate enough to have the cozy shelter of Camp Runoia’s boathouse to retreat to when black clouds rolled in and dumped sheets of rain on the scene. They moved on quickly, though, and left us to pack up under clear skies.
