– This race, honoring GPYC’s cornerstone members Bill and Joan Witkin, kicks off the season…at least in theory…it was called off for lack of wind in 2014 and again in 2015, so we pray to the sailing gods that they smile down upon us this year.

After the race, we’ll enjoy a potluck picnic. Please bring something to share (we won’t be grilling), and GPYC will provide an assortment of beverages for $5 per person and all supplies (cups, plates, napkins, etc.).

Hosts: Scott and Martha Finlay

RSVP Button - Yes

If you’re not on our membership or mailing list, and you’d like to join the fun, just email us at Sail@GreatPondYachtClub.com to let us know, and we’ll get you in for the race, whether it’s to race your own boat, to crew on someone else’s, or to pitch in on the committee boat. All new members are welcome, regardless of how much or little experience you have with sailing!

We always welcome volunteers to help on the committee boat for any race; please let us know if you’re interested (it’s a fun and easy way to participate — no experience necessary).

If Weather Is Questionable for Any Race:

We’d like to send club members text messages about race status on iffy-weather days; so, if you plan to race, let us know by email at Sail@GreatPondYachtClub.com, and make sure we have your cell phone number. Otherwise, on race day, call the Commodore after 11:00 am for a “go” or “no go” (decision may be last-minute).
